I ended up staying in my hometown of Uijeongbu for a while due to some personal matters. While looking for local eateries that are unique to this city, I came across a famous sundae place called Oneuleun Sundae.
Oneuleun Sundae actually began as a food truck before opening a physical store. I still see ‘Oneuleun Sundae’ food trucks in other areas, which suggests the Uijeongbu location is the main branch.

The store is located in Jangam-dong, Uijeongbu.
It’s easily accessible on foot from Balgok Station on the light rail, and there’s also limited parking available.

Upon entering, I saw the menu. The assorted sundae was priced at 10,000 won, which was an increase from the 8,000 won I had seen before. Since I was eating alone, I decided to order one portion of the assorted sundae.
The inside of the shop was incredibly hot—like a sauna. Even with a large fan in front of the air conditioner, the heat was overwhelming. The indoor temperature was around 34°C, and the owner’s clothes were soaked in sweat. It seemed better for takeout or delivery than dining in.

I brought the assorted sundae home.

When I opened the lid, it was filled with sundae and offal. I had watched the owner prepare it, and there were four types of sundae and two types of offal. I was a bit disappointed that the offal only included liver and lungs, as it seemed they had run out of other parts that day.

I arranged the different types on a plate.
The sundae included the standard chewy sundae, a traditional sundae, a spicy white sundae, and a kimchi sundae. All were delicious and didn’t have any strange smells. I especially enjoyed the spicy white sundae and the kimchi sundae since they’re not as common.
The offal was also free of any peculiar odors. The lungs were great, but the liver wasn’t as chewy as I had hoped. The offal was a bit of a letdown compared to the excellent sundae.
Overall, the assorted sundae from Oneuleun Sundae makes for a great snack to pair with drinks. I do wish they had offered a spicy broth like ‘sul-guk’ (hangover soup) to go with it!
If you’re with a group, it would be perfect to order with tteokbokki. I’ll definitely be getting takeout from here again whenever the craving hits.
Note: Oneuleun Sundae is closed every Tuesday.
