Planning your commute or travels in Seoul? Here’s an important update regarding subway fares.
Seoul subway fares will increase starting June 28, 2025.
For adults, the fare will go up by ₩150 per person. This increase applies not only to Seoul’s subway lines but also to lines in Gyeonggi Province and Incheon. Essentially, this is an overall fare hike for the Seoul Metropolitan Subway system.
Originally, there was a plan to increase fares by ₩300 in October 2023. However, to help stabilize prices, the increase was split into two phases: ₩150 in October 2023, and another ₩150 in June 2025.
Travelers who use the subway before 6:30 AM can also expect a slight increase in their “Early Bird” discounted fare.
