Fans of the Korean drama Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia recently noticed a memorial message at the end of an episode honoring someone named Kim Hyun-i. Her name also appeared in a tribute at the end of the first episode of another Korean drama, 100 Days of Lies.
The messages left viewers wondering who Kim Hyun-i was and why two different drama productions had chosen to remember her.
As Korean news outlets began reporting on her passing, more information emerged about her career as an action performer who worked behind the scenes in Korean films and television dramas.
Who Was Kim Hyun-i?
Kim Hyun-i was a Korean action performer who worked on various films and television productions.
According to Korean media reports, she began learning taekwondo in elementary school and later joined a national taekwondo demonstration team. She subsequently worked as a taekwondo instructor before entering the stunt and action industry.
Her career included several Korean films, such as Victory (2024), Project Silence (2024), The Black Nuns (2025), and Forbidden Fairytale (2025).
She also participated in television productions, including The Penthouse and New Recruit.
Although her name may not have been familiar to most viewers, her work contributed to Korean entertainment productions enjoyed by audiences at home and abroad.
Why Did Doctor X Pay Tribute to Kim Hyun-i?
The news of Kim Hyun-i’s passing came to wider public attention through a memorial message at the end of the first episode of Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia, which premiered on SBS on October 9, 2026.
The following day, the first episode of tvN’s 100 Days of Lies also included a tribute to her.
The two memorial messages prompted viewers to search for her name and learn more about her career.
According to Korean media reports, Kim Hyun-i passed away in a traffic accident in August 2026, after filming for Doctor X had concluded.
Her passing was reported more widely in October, following the memorial messages in the two dramas.

Remembering the People Behind Korean Dramas
Korean dramas are enjoyed by viewers around the world, but the people who help bring these productions to life are not always widely recognized.
Beyond the actors who appear on screen, a production relies on many professionals working behind the scenes. Action performers and stunt teams, in particular, help create physical sequences that require specialized skills and experience.
According to Korean media reports, Kim Hyun-i was remembered by colleagues not only for her abilities but also for her willingness to share her experience with less-experienced team members.
One colleague described how she helped younger performers learn and develop their skills.
Such accounts remind us that the people behind a production can leave a lasting impression on their colleagues, even when their names are unfamiliar to most viewers.
A Personal Note: Trying to Learn More About Kim Hyun-i
I have been genuinely enjoying Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia, so I was curious when I noticed the memorial message for Kim Hyun-i at the end of an episode.
Who was she? What had she done, and why did the production team want to remember her?
As more news articles appeared, I began learning about Kim Hyun-i and her career as an action performer in Korean films and television dramas.
However, when I tried to find out more about her work, I encountered an unexpected difficulty.
Although news reports mentioned her involvement in several productions, I could not find publicly accessible clips showing her work. Her social media accounts also offered little additional information, making it difficult to find photographs that could help readers learn more about her.
I did come across a photograph on Namuwiki, a Korean wiki-style website, but I could not determine whether I had permission to reuse it. Rather than use an image without being sure of its copyright status, I decided to leave it out.
I find it unfortunate that it was so difficult to discover more about Kim Hyun-i’s career, especially when two different drama productions took the time to honor her publicly.
Their tributes made me curious about the person behind the name. I wish it were easier for viewers like me to find photographs, video clips, and other records of her work.
Even though I could not find as much information as I had hoped, I am glad to have learned something about the action performer whose colleagues wanted her to be remembered.
Kim Hyun-i may not have been a household name, but her work and the memories she left with her colleagues deserve recognition.
May Kim Hyun-i rest in peace.
